Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV | “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

Get to know Gene.

My name is Gene Mullins, and I’m running for County Commissioner, District 10. I am a chemist and community servant whose career blends problem-solving, precision, and public purpose: for 25 years I turned practical science into real-world results, developing materials, diagnosing failures, driving major product innovations, helping launch a coolant analysis program that prevented engine damage, collaborating internationally, and earning co-inventor status on four U.S. patents; I then spent 17 years at Tennessee Tech stretching scarce dollars, stewarding laboratories, teaching and mentoring students, managing complex equipment, and being instrumental in planning and managing the $5.2 million equipment budget for the new Lab Science Commons, contributions recognized with Tech’s Outstanding Professional Award; a Tennessee Tech graduate with a master’s degree earned later in life through research at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, I’ve remained rooted in faith, family, and community, serving on the county commission to be a voice for the people, strengthen essential services, protect taxpayers, and govern with practical, principled judgment focused on making our county a better place to live.

Tested. Thoughtful. Trusted.

Committed to District 10.

Responsible Stewardship of Taxpayer Dollars

County government should separate needs from wants. Every decision involves real families,

seniors, and neighbors — and those dollars should be treated with care and respect.

Thoughtful Growth & Infrastructure

We can support progress while protecting the rural character and quality of life that make

District 10 special. Roads, services, and development should be planned wisely — not rushed.

Calm, Experienced Leadership

Experience brings perspective. I believe good decisions come from listening, studying the

facts, and thinking long-term — not reacting to pressure or headlines.

Why I’m Running.

I’m running because our county deserves steady, practical leadership that respects both people and their pocketbooks. Throughout my career as a chemist, educator, and county commissioner, I’ve built a habit of solving problems carefully, asking hard questions, and making decisions based on facts, not flash. I’ve seen what happens when projects are rushed, costs are ignored, or voices are left out, and I’ve also seen how much better things work when planning is disciplined and dollars are guarded. I’m running to protect essential services, strengthen public safety, and ensure county government lives within its means, just as families do. Most importantly, I’m running to be a consistent, accessible voice for our community, listening first, leading thoughtfully, and working every day to make our county a stronger, safer, and more affordable place to call home.

I’d be honored to earn your trust and your vote.
